Training pathway

Become a pilot.

Learn energy, weather, precision, and judgment in the purest flying classroom.

The glider advantage

Nothing hides the fundamentals.

Without an engine to add energy, every control input and weather decision matters. Students learn coordination, planning, lookout, and landings in an aircraft that makes the energy picture beautifully clear.

Students may solo a glider at age 14 when all FAA requirements, endorsements, training standards, and instructor judgment are satisfied. Age is eligibility, not readiness.

16minimum age for a private glider certificate

Your progression

Seven stages. One standard: ready.

01

Ground confidence

Field boundaries, aircraft handling, launch signals, tow ropes, positive control checks.

02

Control & coordination

Attitude, airspeed, trim, turns, lookout, and the feedback loop between pilot and aircraft.

03

Launch & landing

Aerotow position, release, traffic, pattern planning, approach, touchdown, and rollout.

04

Judgment under change

Abnormal launch situations, changing conditions, landing options, workload, and conservative decisions.

05

Pre-solo readiness

Consistent skill, knowledge, endorsements, and instructor confidence—not one good flight.

06

Supervised solo

Precision and responsibility grow while dual instruction continues.

07

Certificate & beyond

Practical-test preparation, then badges, weather mastery, aircraft transitions, and cross-country.
